Notes
Initial released with the stroboscope label version.Reissued with the turquise label version from 1969
Compilation of various tracks previously released on other Perry Como albums.
From the sleeve:
"Assignment: Prepare album notes for Perry Como's latest, HELLO, YOUNG LOVERS. Since so much has been written about Perry, see if you can come up with a new twist. A new twist on Como?
"That would be like remodeling the Taj Mahal or taking the lean out of the Tower of Pisa. Como always is Como, praise be. The songs he sings vary in tempo, type, mood and beat- but nothing changes that wonderfully relaxed singing style, that inherent warmth, that incredible naturalness.
"As with vintage wine, you know before sampling what's in an album by Como -- musical ingredients precisely selected to create a given mood, then served with velvety smoothness and exquisite taste, Perry's latest is no exception. He digs deep into musical lovelore for songs and ballads that express the varied and changing moods of love and romance.
"From 1927, for example, he dusts off the ever-wistful Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella, created by the team of Kahal, Wheeler and Fain. Perry experiences the heart pangs of new love with I've Got You Under My Skin, the Cole Porter gem from the 1936 Hollywood smash 'Born to Dance,' then goes romantically tender with In the Still of the Night, another Porter creation, from the 1937 film hit 'Rosalie.'
"Here's Perry at his best, singing songs of love and romance for lovers young and old. The ballads are ageless and timeless -- and they carry a message as old as time and as fresh and stimulating as tomorrow."
