About Barbara Brown:
English textile designer Barbara Brown helped define the British Op Art aesthetic of the 1960s and 70s. In fact, a Heal's Fabrics brochure from 1967 calls Brown "the golden girl of Heal's Fabrics designers." Her work for Heal's of London was joined by contemporaries Robin and Lucienne Day as well as Bauhaus luminaries Marcel Breuer & Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. This Bauhaus influence can also be seen in her somewhat lesser known work in the graphic design industry, which exhibits the same strong geometric shapes as her textiles.
